Ludmilla von Arseniew

In the light of such perceptions of overcoming the categorising distinctions of art history, modern art, so often understood as a process of dissolution, seems to be on the way to a wholeness conveyed in artistic individuality. It is precisely this wholeness that is its necessity. There is no rule or discipline to achieve it. Rather, the appearance of wholeness must be won anew in each work. Ludmilla von Arseniew's paintings seem to me to be so important that this is precisely what happens.
