It all started when I was in a cab with a friend and colleague.I told him about my article project on the Venetian art market of the 16th century, about the great rivals Titian and Tintoretto. The idea for the first article, “The Strategy of Art”, was born and was published shortly afterwards as the cover story in the London Business School's “Business Strategy Review”.

As the story of Titian and his rival Tintoretto shows, strategic innovation is not a concept that only became topical in the 20th century, but rather had a decisive influence on the Venetian art market.

Understanding creativity: The manager as artist

The artist Joseph Beuys is one of the most controversial figures in 20th century art. With his statement: “Everyone is an artist”, i.e. has creative potential, Beuys initiated the debate on creativity and innovation that we are experiencing today from the perspective of art at an early stage.
